From Burnout to Balance: Why I Started Lean Routine
There was a time in my life when I thought fitness had to be extreme to work.
I believed every workout needed to leave me exhausted. Every meal had to be “perfect.” Every calorie had to be tracked. And if I missed one workout or ate one “bad” meal, I felt like I had failed.
What started as a healthy interest in fitness slowly turned into pressure, guilt, and constant comparison.
I didn’t grow up around gym culture. As a South Asian woman, fitness was rarely talked about in a balanced way. Most conversations were about becoming smaller, losing weight quickly, or following unrealistic beauty standards. I spent years trying random diets, punishing workout plans, and routines that simply didn’t fit real life.
And honestly? I burned out.
The turning point came when I stopped chasing perfection and started focusing on consistency instead.
I began learning how the body actually works — strength training, recovery, nutrition, hormones, sleep, stress, and sustainable habits. I realized that real health isn’t about starving yourself or spending hours in the gym. It’s about creating routines you can actually maintain while still enjoying your life.
That mindset changed everything for me.
I started training to feel stronger instead of smaller. I learned how to eat balanced meals without fear. I stopped trying to “restart every Monday.” And for the first time, fitness felt empowering instead of exhausting.
That’s why I created Lean Routine.
